Our client, one of Australia's leading resources companies, is seeking to engage a competent site-based Mining Engineer for a 4-month contract based in regional WA. There is strong probability for a role extension to be reviewed later in the year. Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, the Mining Engineer is responsible for providing engineering support enabling the site to provide a safe, reliable and cost-efficient operation.

The core accountabilities of this role will include:

  • Effectively coordinating and continuously improving the mine plan to maximize resource utilization through effective and efficient mining methods.
  • Involvement in 24 hour | weekly planning, actively engaging with and assisting production engineers to meet required quality and adhere to standards
  • Participate in daily 2pm planning meeting, guiding and owning quality of outcomes, providing coaching as required
  • Re-invigorate 2 weekly planning cycle to allow Production Supervisors to understand planned pit development cycle in order to enable effective operational decision making
  • Provide effective oversight of BOP meeting, probing team to explore options, analyse implications and engage cross functionally to seek alignment and optimal design
  • Progress allocated significant projects in a structured and systematic way to unlock mine performance, e.g. 'compliance to plan (volumetric, spatial) project', 'blasting review process'
  • Coaching other engineers to build strong and inclusive working relationships across work group boundaries
  • Actively engaging a range of stakeholders to listen to feedback and share context
  • Using coaching techniques to guide others through complexity, including balancing technical, operational and workload demands

The successful candidate will require:

  • Degree qualifications in Mining Engineering
  • 3+ years in similar role with WA open cut mine planning experience
  • Deswik experience critical
  • High level computer literacy and interpersonal skills
  • High level written and oral communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong data analysis skills
