More about the role:
We are seeking highly skilled Member and Senator Contact Officer who can provide Parliamentarians information regarding the Organization to handle Government issues complains and concerns. The role will require using knowledge on policies and procedures to give insight and opportunity to resolve emerging and ongoing concerns of Parliamentarians.
You will work closely within the team to respond efficiently and effectively to enquiries to assist in the increase in knowledge and awareness within the Government on the Scheme and how it operates.

Under limited direction, the Member and Senator Contact Officer responsibilities include:

  • Establishing and maintaining productive and professional relationships with allocated parliamentarians, their staff and agency leadership teams.
  • Providing parliamentarians with information on the purpose, scope and progress of the Scheme relating to their community and constituents.
  • Building confidence and understanding of the NDIS in parliamentarians and their staff.
  • Facilitating a timely response to parliamentarian enquiries and representations using appropriate regional processes for referral and resolution.
  • Recording details of complaints, enquiries, and engagement with local MPs and their staff.
  • Escalating complaints from constituents in accordance with established Agency complaint handling processes.
  • Communication with Participants and Providers as required in managing complaints.
  • Coordinating input into briefings for the Minister and Executives

What you will bring to the role

  • Proven experience in using relevant statutory, regulatory and policy frameworks in order to provide objective advice and resolve problems of a specialised or complex nature
  • Ability to provide accurate and specialised advice ensuring knowledge of and compliance with relevant legislation and policy frameworks.
  • Experience on working with autonomy and accountability in interpreting policy and applying practices and procedures with some latitude in modifying practices and procedures where necessary
  • Different innovative techniques and methods are applied or a range of imaginative solutions/responses developed.
  • Consult and advise internal and external stakeholders, anticipate and respond to their needs and expectations
  • You MUST be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident and Eligible to clear a National Police check in order to be considered for this opportunity
