Alcoa's Australian operations represent the world's largest integrated bauxite mining, alumina refining, aluminium smelting and rolling system. Also operating the country's largest aluminium recycling plant, Alcoa adds value to Australia's local, state and national economies at every stage. Alcoa currently operates two bauxite mines within its Western Australian Mineral Lease. The Huntly mine, established in the early 1970s is located near Dwellingup and is the world's largest bauxite mine, supplying bauxite ore to the Pinjarra and Kwinana Refineries. The Willowdale mine is located east of Waroona and supplies bauxite ore to the Wagerup Refinery.

We are seeking enthusiastic and specialised Mechanical Fitter/ Machinist Tradespersons to join Alcoa's Workshop team located at Pinjarra Alumina Refinery located south of Perth.
Our Mechanical Trades work closely with all workshop resources including Trade Assistants, Field Planners, Supervisors and Engineers; all with the goal of working together to safely deliver quality component overhauls on time for our customers.

Your primary responsibility will involve the repair and refurbishment of refinery processing equipment.
You will have experience in the following:

  • Component overhauls including Splitcase pumps, sump pumps, rotating elements, control valves, gate valves, gearboxes, vacuum pumps, agitators and pulleys
  • Manual machining equipment experience is desirable including vertical and horizontal borers, lathes and milling machines
  • CNC machining experience is also desirable
  • Welding qualifications are advantageous

To be successful in the workshop role you will have:

  • An Australian recognised Mechanical Trade Certificate (specify your trade qualifications clearly) e.g. Mechanical Fitter, Fitting and Machining, Boilermaker.
  • Certificate of Secondary Education, completion of year 10 as a minimum
  • Experience working in a workshop or remanufacturing facility
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Well-developed communication skills
  • Self-motivated to complete quality work
  • WA C Class manual Drivers licence
  • High Risk Licence with Dogging or Rigging capability
