    The Opportunity:
    We currently have a full time position available for a qualified Maintenance Fitter (Food Manufacturing) at our Truganina site.
    This role would ideally suit a qualified tradesman with 1-2 years' experience in the food manufacturing industry.
    The position will have the successful applicant working within the maintenance team, as part of the overall production team, and be responsible for providing breakdown, repair and preventative maintenance services on a day to day basis with a focus on food safety and housekeeping.
    Duties include:
  • Ensure the smooth and continuous operation of production;
  • Attend to breakdowns as required.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance on all production equipment as time and production requirements permit.
  • Develop and adhere to existing preventative maintenance program;
  • Comply with site workplace health and safety procedures and monitor and enforce safe work practice with production employees and contractors.
  • Ensure work permits are obtained and / or issued for tasks as appropriate;
  • Maintain good housekeeping in and around workshop area, and ensure all equipment is in ready to use state.
  • Ensure that minimum but practical stocks of regularly used spares and consumables are maintained and procurement process is followed.
  • Assist with the development of specific projects for new plant or plant improvements;
  • Develop and implement training manuals;
  • Maintain MBB and apply lean methodology to continually improve work performance and the workplace; and
  • Identify components critical to the operations and ensure spares are procured and stored onsite to minimise downtime.

    The successful applicant will be able to meet the below requirements:
  • Trade qualification in Fitting or Mechanical engineering;
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing plant, ideally food processing;
  • Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills;
  • Strong problem-solving skills, good communication, and work ethic;
  • Be positive, have a resilient attitude and the willingness to work autonomously and as part of a team;
  • Can work on a roster that occasionally includes some overtime
  • A sound understanding of safe work practices;
  • Understanding of GMP and Food Safety;
  • Reliability and commitment to shifts;
  • Attention to detail; and
  • Current Drivers License and Reliable Transport.
