Ku-ring-gai & Hornsby Meals on Wheels Service - Manager

 Attractive salary packaging negotiable

 35 hours per week (Turramurra and Hornsby Office)

An exciting management opportunity exists to provide leadership, strategic direction and innovation at a time of significant reform in the aged care sector. The Ku-ring-gai and Hornsby Meals on Wheels Service is a highly ethical community organisation which assists clients to live independently at home through the provision of a range of high-quality nutritious meals. Ideally the successful candidate will have experience in leading an organisation through growth and change, establishing strategic partnerships and fostering a positive team culture with the support of the Board. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of approximately 20 staff, over 400 volunteers, a production kitchen and distribution centre with a budget of $3M+. The Manager is directly responsible to a Board of Management and will provide regular reports on the delivery of the strategic, operational, financial and marketing plans that will drive the organisation forward over the next 3 years.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

Management and day to day operation of all aspects of the Ku-ring-gai and Hornsby Meals on Wheels Service (MOW) including:

Staff and Facilities Management

  • Staff - supervision, recruitment, performance monitoring, payroll and all other elements of staff management.

    Business Transformation - develop a workable organisational strategy with an emphasis on business development, improved productivity and performance goals
  • Change Management - lead the staff through a change management process that reflects business transformation principles
  • Volunteers - develop and maintain a viable volunteer base to support all functions of MOW through innovative recruitment, retention and training strategies

    Strategic and Operational Management
  • Operations - Develop and maintain operational efficiencies and controls to maximise the performance of the organisation, including:-

    - ensuring the standard of all food production and meal preparation operations

    - development, implementation and evaluation of the strategic, operational and

    marketing plans in consultation with the Board

    Business Development and Marketing - market and promote the service through the following;-

    - Develop and implement a marketing strategy/plan

    - Implement a robust business development and sales plan to raise stronger

    consumer awareness and grow client/catering sales

    Finance, Compliance and Reporting
  • Financial Management - sound financial management including forecasting, competitive pricing, reporting, budgeting, debtor/creditor control and expenditure monitoring
  • Risk Management and Compliance - Implement and maintain a robust risk assessment and management framework and ensure compliance with:-

    - relevant health food standards including the NSW Food Authority - Food Safety

    Program

    - requirements as set out in the various funding and CHSP policy guidelines

    - Work Health and Safety legislation
  • Relationship with Board of Directors - work closely with the Board to agree the strategic and operational direction of MOW and provide accurate and timely information/reports

    Client management and Industry Liaison
  • Client Management - manage client relationships with an understanding of consumer needs and a strong customer service focus
  • Industry Liaison - develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with funding bodies, industry contacts, NSWMOW Association, community organisations, other MOW catering clients and potential sponsors

    ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
  • Degree qualifications in social science, management, marketing, business and administration or finance, or a combination of any of these disciplines
  • Highly motivated with strong leadership and change management experience
  • Demonstrated financial management, analytical, communication and people management skills
  • Experience in the development of organisational strategic plans, operational plans, tenders, funding applications and other operational policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to network, liaise, manage and develop collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated business development and sales growth skills
  • Understanding of and commitment to social justice and access and equity principles, work safety and ethical work practices
