Chandler Macleod WA are currently seeking an experienced Materials Officer for a Residential position in Port Hedland to work with one of Australia's largest mining companies. The role will see the successful candidate working within a diverse and productive team and presents fantastic ongoing opportunities.

Reporting to the Supervisor, your duties will include:

  • Consistently demonstrate behaviours in line with our Charter Values, leading step up value to achieve zero harm
  • Fostering an environment that promotes team work, positive culture, customer service and continuous improvement
  • Purchasing and procurement of various consumables, exercising best purchasing practice, ensuring frugality across the business
  • Perform cyclic stocktakes on all safety consumables, critical spares, dangerous goods & waste management
  • Initiating expedition where required and collaborating with business support functions to set executions teams up for success
  • Collaborating with department supervisors, maintenance team, planners, purchasing and external vendors & initiate returns process when required
  • Pro-active and evolutionary attitude toward identifying opportunity for improvement in cost base, material storage and logistical initiatives
  • Quality control of materials, ensuring parts and consumables match relevant certification including legislative compliance
  • Submit new cataloguing requests to SparesFinder upon request
  • Preparing high quality documentation for returning goods to external vendors through notifications, work orders, purchase requisition's & reservations on 1SAP
  • Ensuring all items prepared for transport meet "Chain of Responsibility" requirements as outlined in business process and legislative requirements
  • Forklift operations as required e.g. unloading of deliveries, transport of repairable goods etc.
  • Take responsibility to identify day to day problems, implement solution initiatives whilst ensuring departments/yards are maintained to a high standard

    Desirable Technical Capabilities & Competencies
    Previous materials exposure including purchasing and procurement, inventory management and 1SAP exposure would be greatly desirable
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and 1SAP
  • Ability to prioritise effectively, work under pressure and demonstrate task follow-through
  • Ability to work collaboratively, build relationships at all levels and manage multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical skills including the ability to identify improvement opportunities and continuous operational efficiencies
  • Minimum of C class driver's license
  • Forklift License - High Risk Work License
  • Truck License would be greatly desirable
