Our state Government client is seeking to engage a Marketing Officer on a contract until January 2022.


The primary objective of the position is to support the production, delivery and evaluation of event marketing campaigns for Events.

  • Assist with the production, coordination and implementation of marketing campaigns and programs that include a mix of advertising, public relations, creative development, digital and content marketing activities.
  • Work with a range of media and creative service suppliers and agencies including photographers and videographers, to produce and deliver content for use across owned, government and/or partner channels.
  • Collaborate with content creators across the organisation and partner organisations to create, edit, review and maintain the accuracy and currency of content across channels.
  • Monitor the organisations digital channels, using a variety of online tools, to identify content related issues and then take the necessary steps to resolve those issues.
  • Work with external agencies and media outlets to develop and deliver effective marketing campaigns and programs including both on-page and off-page SEO performance, paid SEM and social activities.
  • In response to internal and external briefs and proposals, assist with the coordination of marketing campaigns and programs that encourage cooperative industry participation and visitation to the destination.
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to ensure that marketing campaigns and programs are delivered to a high quality, on time and on budget.
  • Produce and publish on-ground content during events
  • Support the broader Events team with projects and programs as required
  • Provide administrative support as required including coordinating finance tasks, maintaining campaign records, preparing briefs and reports and other duties as required.
  • Understand and work within the ACTPS Code of Conduct and ACTPS values of respect, integrity, collaboration and innovation, and model behaviour consistent with the ACTPS Respect Equity and Diversity framework.
  • This position does not involve direct supervision of staff.

Professional / Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated ability to support in the designing and implementing of marketing campaigns at the local and national level.
  • Demonstrated experience to support the managing of creative, digital, media buying/planning and public relations agencies.
  • Demonstrated superior written and interpersonal skills with experience in content development for a range of requirements including website content, strategies, briefs, media communications and social channel content.
  • Proven ability to tailor communication to a diverse audience to meet awareness raising, engagement and attendance targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Experience in marketing and advertising and/or related discipline


  • A qualification in marketing, public relations or related discipline is highly desirable
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings on occasion and during key event periods.
