Chandler Macleod is working with a Government Agency in the Northbridge area of Perth to source several Managers and Senior Managers Tax/GST Specialists; their ideal candidates will come ideally from tax, accounting or law fields in a mid-tier or large firm. Corporate experience will be highly regarded.

These positions are offered on a non-ongoing contract basis, anticipated duration circa 18 months with possible extension; these are salaried positions and will accrue the holiday entitlements enjoyed by permanent employees.

Please note that the Agency requires people with varying levels of experience, so via this post specifically, we are inviting applications from people with circa 8-10 years' recent and relevant managerial and technical experience in GST/Tax, ideally in the areas of large public and private groups and multinational enterprises.

The Agency is aiming to attract knowledgeable and professional Senior Tax/GST Specialists who are committed to delivering high quality output and who can bring experience, depth of knowledge and technical value to the programs of work the Agency is undertaking; reporting to a supportive Senior Manager, you will be responsible for motivating and mentoring teams.

The successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Extensive/specialist experience applying GST tax law to complex transactions or arrangements
  • Deep understanding of the GST legislative, policy and financial environments
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to guide teams dealing with complex GST arrangements
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to provide guidance and advice on complex taxation and superannuation concepts and information in a clear, concise and accurate manner to a range of stakeholders.

You will have:

  • An understanding and experience of the systems, processes and controls that are relevant to the preparation of the BAS
  • An understanding and experience of the structures and tax planning approaches used in large businesses
  • Achieved outcomes within set time frames
  • Negotiated with clients using professional judgement and knowledge to influence outcomes
  • Developed less experienced staff to make technical decisions
  • A degree in tax, accounting, commerce or law
