About the Position:

The position is responsible for ensuring the sustainable, prudent, and efficient strategic planning of biosolids and/or bioresources, water, recycled water, sewerage networks, and sewage and recycled water treatment plants for the water and sewerage network. An innovative and solutions-focused mindset is critical for success in this role, and you thrive in complex environments.

Reporting to the position are 10 direct reports and 21 indirect across a variety of operational teams.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Planning sewage treatment plant upgrades for the growth of the city
  • Integration of renewal and growth-driven upgrades for sewage treatment plants
  • Assessment of recycled water treatment plants
  • Strategic planning for the whole system
  • Planning delivery of the Water Services network plan and Local Government Infrastructure Plan
  • Integrated catchment planning
  • Development of nature and effects-based solutions
  • Planning water, recycled water, and sewerage network upgrades for the growth of the city
  • Integration of renewal and growth-driven upgrade for water, recycled water, and sewerage networks
  • Develop solutions for biosolids and bioresources management
  • Strategic planning of sewage and recycled water treatment plants (e.g., energy)
  • Assessment of the condition of treatment assets
  • Develop and manage nutrient reduction programs
  • Management of research and development initiatives, pilot plants, etc
Experience and Qualifications:
  • An Engineering Degree
  • Extensive experience in Water Utility Planning
  • Proven examples of innovative water, sewerage, and recycled water improvement strategies
  • Experience in a Consulting Environment with strong Negotiation and Influencing Skills
