Chandler Macleod is working with a leading organisation who currently have an exciting permanent employment opportunity for a Economic Development & Investment Manager in Tamworth.

Reporting to the Director, the primary functions of the Economic Development & Investment Manager will include:

 Provide leadership in the achievement of the Client's economic development and visitor objectives aligned with their organisational visions for the future
 Prepare and implement strategies to stimulate investment and jobs in the local area
 Create relationships and networks with Tamworth's key industries and understand where the Client can assist them to maintain operations and expand where possible
 Establish an Economic Development Hub Group within the organisation that is focussed on sustainable investment attraction, creating linkages with other Directorates in the area that influence or are factors in business decision making
 Promote investment opportunities in the region that add to local economy
 Co-ordinate grant and funding submissions that are aligned with economic development, tourism and increased community participation
 Support the Director, Growth and Prosperity to leverage federal and state funds to support economic development outcomes.

The personal characteristics, experience and qualifications that the successful candidate will require to excel in the role are:

 Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to lead and mentor staff members of all levels
 A strong cultural understanding
 The ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders, both internal and external with highly developed advocacy and influencing skills
 Tertiary qualification in Economics or Business (desirable) or significant relevant experience in a role and environment similar to this position
 Current driver's licence
 A demonstrated capability or equivalent (ideally 7-10 years) in the following areas:

  • Understanding budget processes including preparation and management of budgets
  • Proven ability to negotiate outcomes with all stakeholders
  • Significant exposure and understanding of economic and political influences
  • Proven record in investment and activation including brand building
  • Economic Modelling
  • Project Coordination and Management
