Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Lean Practitioner / Business Analyst on a contract for 6 months with potential extension.

Purpose of the role:

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Lean Practitioner / Business Analyst will be responsible for gathering requirements, conducting analysis of business policy, processes and systems and contributing to the design of solutions that to support the taskforce in delivering its objectives. This role is required to build and maintain appropriate and effective relationships both within agency and with external stakeholders in order to deliver changes to organisational capability.

Major areas of Responsibility:

  • Prepare and maintain various business analysis artefacts required by the taskforce, including process definition, business requirements, data mapping, solution design, use and test cases, procedures, and other products as required.
  • Manage the production of the required documentation, products and assets, including quality reviews, and acceptance criteria in order to handover to the business owner(s) as required.
  • Managing and holding workshops and information sessions to gather requirements
  • Engage relevant stakeholders in a collaborative and effective manner to ensure the business analysis is accurately captured, stakeholders are fully informed and engaged and the analysis is appropriately signed off and approved.
  • Understand agency business processes, information management and system architecture to develop and analyse business and user requirements, and research, evaluate and recommend business improvement solutions that are compatible with business needs.
  • Liaise with any external suppliers or account managers associated with the program outcomes (as required).
  • Identify issues and escalate for review and corrective action where necessary.
  • Commit to the agency Code of Conduct and Values.

Pre-requisites required:

People who are successful in this position must have the following pre-requisites:

  • Minimum 5-8 years' experience and knowledge of formal project methodologies.
  • Certification in Lean and / or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment on multiple projects across a large program of work.
  • Experience engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing options papers and solution designs.
  • Highly experienced in documenting current (AS-IS) and future (TO-BE) business processes and workflows.
  • Familiarity with requirements traceability.
  • Demonstrated experience working with legislative changes and during organisational change.
  • Ability to write Functional and Non-functional Specifications and Test Cases.
  • Ability to take direction, manage forums and work groups and execute a project plan and influence change.
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed written and interpersonal skills including presenting to a variety of different audiences.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively in a small, dynamic team environment.

One or more of the following:

  • Experience with IT systems, SLDC and data analysis.
  • Understanding of hardware and/or application architecture principles, including documenting physical and logical diagrams.
  • Working with Business Intelligence or Analytics.
  • Business process modelling skills.
  • Understanding of quality assurance.
  • Formal ICT qualifications or certification.
