We are seeking Lamination Assistants and Slitter Machine Operator for on-going work for our well known client in Moorabbin. Our client is global leader in developing and producing responsbilble packaging for food, beverage, pharmaceutical and other products. These roles scope will be to assist the Printers during setups to maintain consistent quality at maximum production rates with minimal waste in a safe manner and to maintain compliance with procedures and systems.

Lamination Assistant

  • Fixed shifts (Afternoon or night shifts)
  • Afternoon: 7am to 7:10pm
  • Night: 7pm to 7:10am
  • 12 hours shifts / working 3 days per week
  • Shift Pay rate, Ordinary Afternoon: 39.945, Ordinary Night: 43.27375 and Double time Night: 76.56125, Double time Afternoon: 73.2325

The Lamination Assistants will be responsible for:

  • Assist in Operating Laminator presses safely and efficiently. This involves maximising speeds, without compromising the quality standards, and minimising machine downtime.
  • Actively motivate, communicate and work with Lamination operators to ensure they produce production within product specification, preferably in excess of production standards for output and setup allowance.
  • Communicate issues as they arise within their shift, with the Shift Supervisor and also between shifts when required.
  • To be involved in continuous improvement and have a positive attitude towards implementing changes to improve Company performance.
  • Offer advice and assistance to other operators, as required.
  • Liaise with Operators and assistants on opposite shift to ensure a smooth changeover occurs between shifts.
  • Follow production orders and work instructions.
  • Identify mechanically defective machine parts using the maintenance request system.
  • All Laminated product must be handled appropriately depending on the next stage of production or warehousing.
  • You are responsible for all aspects of housekeeping on the machine as well as the surrounding areas of department.
  • You are responsible for the supply of glue and raw materials to ensure they are handled effectively to minimise downtime, maintain quality and maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Carry out tasks/projects as assigned by the Lamination Operators, Shift Supervisor or Manager.
  • Compliance with all HACCP standards.

To be successful in this role you will ideally have or be:

  • Some lifting/ pulling/ pushing required so appropriate level of fitness essential
  • Agility required when bending and stretching to tread web thru machine.
  • Ability to bend and stretch when cleaning driven and idle rollers.
  • Good numeracy skills.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills, particularly at change of shifts.
  • Ability to troubleshoot.
  • Forklift license, an advantage.
  • Ability to perform quality checks.
  • Methodical and clear headed, particularly when under pressure.
  • Ability to safely operate the printing press, other plant and equipment after training.
  • Computer literacy require

Slitter Machine Operator

  • Fixed shifts (Afternoon or night shifts), Client can't confirm how many he needs per shift at this stage
  • Working 5 days per week
  • Day: 7am to 3pm Mon to Fri
  • Afternoon: 3pm to 11pm Mon to Fri
  • Night: 11pm to 7am (Mon to Thur)
  • Pay rate: Day $33.27, Ordinary Afternoon: 39.945, Ordinary Night: 43.27375

The Slitting Operator will be responsible for:

  • To efficiently operate the assigned slitter(s) and slit jobs in accordance with the Job bag instructions.
  • Efficiently carry out job changes across a variety of products.
  • Work closely with machine setters to ensure reels, cores and required equipment is available to ensure a smooth operation (At times, cores may need cutting.)
  • Complete necessary paperwork on timesheets and labels.
  • Efficiently clean and maintain high standard of housekeeping of the slitter and immediate surroundings.
  • Advise QA, Production Supervisor or Production Manager of any unusual roll-related observations
