Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS6 Laboratory It Systems Administrator on a contract until 04/03/2022.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Specific duties include:

  • The Laboratory IT Systems Administrator administers and provides technical support for laboratories specific IT systems, instrumentation, software and databases, contributes to the strategic planning of laboratory IT systems, capabilities and requirements, and manages related projects and initiatives.
  • Critical functions for this role include maintaining integrity of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and associated databases, consolidation and quality assurance of data for publishing of laboratory testing results to the department's website, and provision of advice and liaising with IT services with regard to laboratory specific software and equipment.
  • The position also supports the ordering, registration, handling and storage of laboratory samples in accordance with the LB accredited ISO 17025 Quality Management System and legislated requirements.
  • The position coordinates with staff across the Branch to ensure consistency and compliance with requirements.
  • The candidate filling this role needs to have a broad, but specialised, skill set. The position requires general IT skills, such as Access and SQL database administration and reporting, and troubleshooting of systems and data issues, in addition to an understanding of laboratory specific software such as LIMS and chromatography data systems.
  • The successful applicant will also understand laboratory instrumentation, including networking of legacy systems, and how the regulatory scientists within LB use these tools. The candidate also needs to develop an understanding of Quality Management Systems, legislation and the regulatory scheme, and their responsibilities within these frameworks.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be required to have a Baseline security clearance.
