We are offering a chance to work for the world's largest provider of commercial explosives and innovative blasting systems to the mining, quarrying, oil and gas and construction markets, a leading supplier of sodium cyanide for gold extraction, and a specialist provider of ground support services in mining and tunnelling. This is an opportunity to work as a laboratory assistant with mining materials and get some experience in this unique field.

The laboratory assists with preparing samples, carrying out basic laboratory procedures and running simple tests.

Key Accountabilities.

  • Ensures safe laboratory operations.
  • Ensures all schedules are met in a timely manner and no justifiable complaints over performance.
  • Support laboratory safety initiatives.
  • Ensures safety of all personnel using the laboratory facilities by reviewing work practices, adherence to good laboratory practices, housekeeping and regulations.
  • Conducts routine analysis and testing to ensure compliance with production needs.
  • Conducts calibration of online instrumentation for which the laboratory is responsible.
  • Ensures accuracy of analyses and timely reporting of results.
  • Provides rapid reporting of out of specification results to the appropriate management representative.

About you.

  • Interest in earth sciences or laboratory work
  • Good hand eye co-ordination
  • Attention to detail

Working hours:

This casual role is for 12 hours a week. A 6 hour shift on a Monday and a Thursday. If Monday or Thursday is a public holiday, the next business day is required to be worked instead.
