Our client is seeking an Internal Counter Sales Representative to join their team located in Dandenong. This role is hands-on and the successful applicant will need to be an all-rounder working in a small team on the sales counter, phone and in the stores.

Purpose of Role
The execution of the company's sales systems by soliciting inquiries from the telephone, counter and converting them into sales. This activity will be performed using principles of sound salesmanship and self-management to ensure that the customer's needs and expectations are met or exceeded.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Ensure that price lists, catalogs and promotional offers are up to date.
2. Maintain gross margins and sales budgets as defined by Management.
3. Actively promote company products to customers over the phone and counter.
4. Record all inquiries on the system before the end of the business day.
5. Ensure that you respond to customer requests for quotes within one business day. If this cannot be achieved, the inquiry is to be raised with your immediate manager with enough lead time for your manager to respond.
6. Manage the expectations of the customer and ensure that their expectations are at least met before close of business each day.
7. Record all quotes and orders onto the system.
8. Assisting in dispatching orders and preparing inventory lists.

Preferred Experience:

Previous sales experience in the engineering, building, industrial or trade industry is desirable but not essential.

Essential:

  • Drivers licence
  • Forklift licence

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Product knowledge of stocked items
2. General sales skills
3. Basic computer skills

Preferred Characteristics:

  • Must have a positive "can-do" attitude with the ability to deal with various customers.
  • Enthusiastic, optimistic and friendly towards customers and other staff.
  • Confident, results orientated and a self-starter.
