About the role

You position will consider complex issues, conduct research, analyse and synthesise information into concise findings to inform policy development. As a Mainstream Interface Policy Officer, you will generally work within an area of specialisation including health, child protection and family support, justice, transport and education.
The role will have a considerable level of contact with internal and external stakeholders and will be required to communicate and provide advice on a range of matters.

The duties of the role:

  • Assisting with interpreting, drafting and reviewing policy issues within a specialist area.
  • Contributing to the planning and implementation of policies and objectives.
  • Assisting with the preparation of drafting reports, briefing papers, speeches, Ministerial correspondence and discussion papers.
  • Tailoring written and verbal communications for a variety of audiences, providing advice on complex issues.
  • Identifying emerging issues across mainstream interfaces and supporting the development of potential solutions.
  • Conducting research and analysis to inform policy development.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Ability to manage a demanding and changing workloads and competing priorities
  • Be able to deal with confronting and complex situations and information
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite
  • A focus on problem solving skills
  • Have outstanding communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain networks
