Position title: Hydraulic Designer
Contract Estimation Duration: Permanent - immediate start
Company Type / Size: Commercial / Private Company
Location: Frenchs Forest - Sydney - NSW
Salary / Rate: $80-120K + super (based on experience)

Purpose of this position:
Responsibility for the successful design and documentation of hydraulic services from concept to completion (predominantly workshop drawings) working on medium and large-scale projects and support Directors on large scale projects.

General Requirements:
This position will be directly involved in projects, whether working independently, supporting Directors, or managing a team - advising and mentoring juniors.
Projects are time bound with multiple services and are predominantly workshop drawings.
Multiple projects occur at the same time so good personal project management skills will make the role successful.

The role is responsible for:

  • Prepare schematic design documentation and provide space allocations to the hydraulic services
    and convey requirements to Architect for implementation into the overall building design.
  • Prepare calculations for the sizing of the various hydraulic systems.
  • Conduct site inspections.
  • Prepare design and documentation for the project in accordance with the relevant standards and
    provide coordination with building elements and other engineering services.
  • Preparation of project specific specification for the building design.
  • Prepare reports.
  • Managing single projects within a workflow environment including managing work in progress,
    timings and commitments.
  • Manage costs within the project fee and advise director of variation claims.
  • Understand client requirements and produce consistent, compliant design documentation.
  • Assist and mentoring junior staff with projects.
  • Carry out quality assurance checking across projects.
  • Attending meetings for projects.
  • Water Services Coordination tasks.
  • Proactive in marketing and developing new projects.
  • Produce fee proposals.

    Technical Scope:
  • Reference the Building Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standard.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and building plans and specifications.
  • Ability to read building plans and use AutoCAD programs
  • Experience with Revit essential
  • Ability to undertake mathematical calculations
  • Provide clear communication both verbally and written to all
  • members of the project. Ability to write reports for technical submissions.
  • Ability to solve problems within the building design and interpretation of relevant building standards.
  • An eye for detail and quality outputs

    Education:
  • Completion of Hydraulic Diploma or relevant industry experience (Minimum of 3/4 years' experience of hydraulic drafting/design)
  • Excellent personal computer skills
  • Effective teamwork and time management skills
  • Extensive knowledge of codes and standards
  • Project Management skill that involve managing projects
  • Writing and communication experience
  • Design experience
