Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Human Resource Officer on a contract for 6 months, option for extension.

Position Overview

The key duties of the position include:

  • Triaging enquiries and provide timely, accurate and professional HR advice to employees on employment pay and conditions in line with relevant policies and the department Enterprise Agreement 2022-2025.
  • Supporting projects relating to pay and conditions, such as managing performance and Enterprise Agreement increases, outcomes from organisational restructures and process improvement initiatives
  • Working with employees and managers to understand their WHS obligations and to drive a positive WHS culture.
  • Assisting with WHS incident management and investigations, including working collaboratively with contractors to ensure that all WHS incidents are properly reported and investigated.
  • Assisting with the identification of risk and determining controls for the mitigation of risk.
  • Supporting the business Corporate Citizen roles.

Capabilities required

  • A positive attitude and a team player (without exception).
  • Highly developed organisation skills including the ability to priorities and collaborate with others to achieve deadlines
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills to produce advice, policies and strategies that meet the needs of the department
  • Experience using MS Excel and SAP payroll system or similar is highly desirable.
  • The position requires an experienced individual, who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of work health and safety obligations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience across a broad range of HR functions, sound judgement and the ability to interpret and apply legislation, policy and procedure and to be able to articulate these in plain English.
