Chandler Macleod are seeking an experienced Human Resource for 6 month temporary contract with our State Government client. This position is conveniently located in Adelaide CBD and on a Monday to Friday roster.

The role

  • Expert consultancy services to executive and senior managers regarding all aspects of human resource management, human resource development and employee relations including the sensitive and appropriate management and resolution of conflict, under-performance, misconduct, grievances, complaints and investigations
  • Establishing productive working relationships and working in partnership with designated groups and assist in the resolution of complex and sensitive operational HR issues in accordance with the clients Workforce policies and procedures, Awards, Agreements, Codes of Ethics, industrial instruments, Work, Health & Safety, EEO which lead to a standardised, best practice system of Human Resource Management service provision across the clients
  • Influence the direction of HR Management practices, processes and policy by researching, assessing and responding to policy issues and identifying emerging trends and risks in human resources
  • Recommend strategies on a diverse range of complex and sensitive matters including the preparation of concise written reports containing sound recommendations
  • Liaising, consulting and negotiating with key stakeholders involved in the case management of critical, complex and sensitive cases
  • Undertaking research and investigations into complex human resource operational tasks, including grievances, appeals and remuneration assessments and providing reports and recommendation to management
  • Providing effective management of excess workers and supporting Work Health, Safety and Injury Management consultants with respect to the management of work injured employees
  • Providing expert advice with respect to organisational design and review and participating in the development and implementation of appropriate change management programs
  • Identifying and providing project management services and advice to address operational needs such as restructuring, implementation of new policy and/or procedures and recruitment initiatives
  • Providing expert advice, assistance and support to managers with discussions with employee associations, staff and work site representatives
  • Participating in the provision of information and training to managers and staff on contemporary, accountable people management issues, legislative compliance requirements and industrial regulations

    Skill sets required
  • Significant experience in providing expert strategic and operational advice to senior management on a range of general Human Resource matters
  • Proven experience in interpreting and advising on Awards, Agreements, policies, procedures, determinations, guidelines and legislation
  • Possess a sound understanding of contemporary HR practices and approaches
  • Work within the highest levels of confidentiality and within the Code of Ethics for the South Australian Public Sector
  • Proven ability to quickly build rapport and trust to develop and maintain effective collaborative and operational relationships with clients that contribute to the achievement of local business objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and solve complex situations and problems, and apply practical people management principles and solutions to business situations
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate and influence others in an environment of change
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills including high level verbal communication skills and the ability to compile concise written advice on complex and politically sensitive issues
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, under broad direction and also within a team to achieve agreed outcomes
  • Proven experience in the delivery of human resource services and significant organisational development projects, programs and strategies that support business specific goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated experience in the development, delivery and evaluation of HR related training
  • Possess a sound understanding of the impact of change and organisational development approaches
