Position title: Heritage Consultant - Government
Contract Estimation Duration: Immediate start to 30/06/2021 (with possibility of extension(s))
Company Type / Size: Government
Location: Parramatta - WFH (transitioning to office)
Salary / Rate: $51.63 p/h + Super
Purpose of this position:
To support effective project management by preparing and submitting high quality project plans and briefs to management, organising priorities, resource management, ongoing monitoring of milestone achievement, standards and committee outcomes, project evaluation and drafting and presenting of timely status reports, and project delivery within scope, budget and timeframes.
General Requirements:

  • Manage the new fast track heritage approval process under the Heritage Act 1977 including enquiries, assessment, monitoring, etc
  • Contribute to the initial receipt and assessment of enquiries (including the provision of general advice on Heritage Division business), correspondence and requests for the Division and referral as required in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Undertake the completeness checking of all applications submitted under the Heritage Act 1977, liaise with customers if required, determine applications suitable for fast tracking and refer other complete applications to the appropriate teams within the Division.
  • Input into the development and implementation of a customer service delivery strategy for the Division, in line with the OEH Customer Service Charter.
  • Provide technical input into the development of high quality and effective information products, tools and outreach activities including social media that support the business of the Division.
  • Support projects and programs across OEH that have a community engagement component, evaluate programs and ensure programs remain current and deliver quality practice in engagement.
  • Prepare accurate and timely written reports, submissions, briefing notes and ministerial correspondence on a range of operational issues and ensure documentation is drafted in accordance with government protocols.
  • Provide input into the development, implementation and promotion of effective high quality community engagement strategies, initiatives and programs to meet and deliver on priority community engagement outcomes. Review and evaluate their effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement

    Technical Scope:
  • Heritage or planning background
  • Heritage impact assessment and report writing experience and knowledge of NSW heritage and related planning legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to negotiate good heritage outcomes.
  • Time management skills.
  • Government experience desirable but not mandatory.
  • Drivers Licence - desirable but not mandatory
