This growing national business, with an expanding across retail and convvenience have a fantastic opportunity to join their business as Head of Merchandise. This position will be responsible for driving retail excellence and enhanced customer experience through effective category management, preferred supplier arrangements, advertising income, developing food service offerings, optimal product ranges, in store layout and planograms to increase customer traffic and docket size for profit growth and revenue across thier retail chain of stores nationally. This role will require collaboration across multiple channels in the business, effectively working with Retail, Marketing, Operations, Construction, Commission Agent and external groups to execute in store projects. You will have an unwaivering passion for the customer, discerning commercial acumen, accountability, stakeholder influence, with the ability to create high performance teams that deliver positive outcomes.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Merchandising: Develop effective plans to ensure in store offerings and product ranges are in line with emerging trends, with unique and complimentary offerings and provide a point of difference to create an exceptional customer retail experience and generate increased
    sales and profit.
  • Category Management: Drive effective plans and continuously evolve processes for category and merchandise management that ensures effective insights into range performance and pricing, promotional activity, product development opportunities, stock levels at store,
    replenishment ordering systems and end to end item management that delivers an enhanced customer offer and store sales declaration integrity.
  • Preferred Suppliers: Develop effective plans and agreements with preferred suppliers and partners to ensure trading terms, promotional and marketing plans and financial targets and revenue deliverables are achieved and managed effectively through the network.
  • Advertising income: Partner with suppliers to identify opportunities and implement strategies that makes most effective use of site plans and layout to drive advertising income. Create and execute promotional programs that enhance the brand, stimulate customer activity,
    and generate greater profit.
  • Store layouts & Merchandising: Develop and implement strategies that deliver optimised store layout plans and planograms that drive the retail and customer experience and deliver on merchandising and category plans for increased revenue and growth.
  • Financial: Ensure the financial performance of the unit is effectively managed through expenditure management, development of effective agreements and oversight of spend to forecast on key plans.

    Key Requirements:
  • The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated career with over 10 to 15 years in either retail or QSR type environments preferably with franchise experience at a national level.
  • A proven track record in retail operational and customer experience transformations within a fast-paced retail environment that deliver exceptional value.
  • Strong background in retail operations, merchandising and promotional planning, category and food management, managing supplier relationships. Petrol and convenience.
  • Ability to navigate and effectively work in agile, fast paced and ever evolving entrepreneurial environments with a focus on accountability and execution.
  • Sound financial and commercial acumen and ability to work within a high cost effective framework and environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to work effectively across the organisation and through the Retail division as well as key partners
