Position Overview

Handypersons will be required to conduct their duties in a courteous, safe and efficient manner, in accordance with the client's policies and procedures, ensuring that a high level of service is maintained.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Use the Work Request System and Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • Carry out all tasks, guided by the Work Request System and Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • Lights to be checked and globes changed daily over the whole property.
  • Clean and maintain plant rooms in proper condition.
  • Supplies from the loading dock to be transported to the various areas of Engineering.
  • Operate the Hotel's Lock System.
  • Participate in the Hotel's ERT.
  • Operate the Building Automation System.
  • Work on a rotating shift as directed, in accordance with the Hotel's Enterprise Agreement.
  • Take plant logs daily.
  • Operate the kitchen and laundry steam generators. Carry out maintenance on all associated steam equipment and monitor/control water quality control.
  • Carry out and administrate the Rooms Inspection program as per Hotel Standards.
  • Anticipate guest's needs through observation and offer prompt, efficient service either personally or through effective communication with other colleagues.
  • Align working practices and conduct with the Hotel's Vision; consistently strive to meet and exceed the expectations of both internal and external guests.
  • Personally ensure compliance with all relevant Workplace Health & Safety and Occupational Health & Safety legislation, and related hotel policies.
  • Anticipate guest's needs through observation and offer prompt, efficient service either personally or through effective communication with other colleagues.
  • Comply with and abide by all Hotel polices and procedure and information as outlined in Employee Handbook
  • To work as and where directed by Management plus follow all reasonable requests

Our Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Hotel experience is preferred, however not essential.
  • Experience in carpentry and/or painting would be an advantage.
  • Able to work a variety of shifts over a seven day rotating roster - including mornings, evenings and the occasional overnight shift.
  • You will be a team player and have the ability to juggle a variety of tasks
