Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Generalist Finance Officer on a non-ongoing for 12 months with potential extension.

About the Role:

General Finance professionals monitor creditor and debtor accounts, undertake related routine documentation and data processing, and calculate and investigate the cost of wages, materials, overheads and other operating costs.

Duties may include:

  • provide advice to departmental stakeholders and clients about the department's financial processes and procedures
  • research and analyse complex financial management issues
  • establish and maintain a range of stakeholder relationships
  • deliver detailed or sensitive projects that impact on the financial performance of the agency
  • provide reports to senior management on strategic financial issues
  • actively participate in a team and support participative decision making.

General Capabilities

  • Show sound understanding, critical analysis and reasoning skills in identifying and addressing complex and/or sensitive issues
  • Organise work, sets priorities and completes tasks within set timeframes. Successfully manage competing priorities and changing timeframes
  • Work independently and consistently to deliver high quality outcomes; collaborate with a team to ensure deadlines are met; and provide practical solutions to work issues through negotiating
  • Engage in client service processes and practices to promote a culture of quality client service
  • Contextualise, convey and exchange information to create a shared understanding
  • Apply financial management practices and procedures in accordance with APS and departmental legislation, policy and guidelines.

Mandatory Requirements

Mandatory requirements are required under legislation or policy.

  • A minimum of Baseline (Protected) level security clearance
  • Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
