Our client is seeking to engage a Front Office Receptionist at their Forrest ACT Location.

Position Purpose

  • To attend to, in a friendly, competent and efficient manner, the needs of guests at all stages of their booking, arrival, stay and checkout
  • To ensure that all day-to-day office and administrative duties are performed in a timely and efficient manner to achieve the best outcomes for both the business and the guests.

    Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare Reception area ready for the day, ensuring the correct lighting is set, blinds are open, stationery is stocked (including staplers, printers, photocopier, credit card machine rolls, etc)
  • Complete all duties on shift checklists
  • Check the Daily Log and action any outstanding items
  • Record in the Daily Log, any items relevant to the next shift
  • Liaise with the Night Caretaker about any 'issues' from the night before
  • Complete all checkouts by 1O.OOam and follow-up on all late departures, liaising with Housekeeping
  • Liaise with Maintenance and Housekeeping on matters of which they should be advised
  • Discuss and take reservations, which might be made in person or by telephone, fax or e-mail, all in a timely manner
  • Perform general secretarial duties such as preparing correspondence and taking and making phone calls
  • Maintain a 'healthy scepticism' about email bookings that seem unusual in some way Eg bookings from overseas (especially for large bookings). requesting to pay upfront by credit card, bookings that give you way too much information/sob stories about
  • the booking or the payment arrangements
  • Warmly greeting guests as they arrive in the reception area, acknowledging their presence as soon as they enter Reception
  • Record guests' details when they arrive, including checking credit card details and identification
  • Record guest car number plate details
  • Take payment upfront (unless other arrangements have been made prior to arrival)
  • Take an appropriate bond from any guests that are paying cash (giving the guest a receipt for the bond)
  • Other Duties as Required.


  • Must have previous receptionist experience
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including split shifts
  • Must be adaptable to work in all areas of the Hotel if required
