Our client SPC is a proud manufacturer of fruit and vegetables, based in the Goulburn Valley Region of Victoria, Australia. With a commitment to the important role it plays in the Australian economy and manufacturing industry. With over 100 years of history, we are proud that 90% of SPC's ingredients are grown right here in Australia.

In their busy fruit processing season, generally between December and April each year SPC requires up to 500 extra casual employees to process the product. The Casual Forklift Operator is employed under the SPC Operations Shepparton (Food Preservers) Enterprise Agreement 2020 and can complete a variety of different roles in production.

As a critical part of the Production process your key responsibilities will be:

  • Lift and shift product on pallets and in bins
  • Use of attachments
  • Cool rooms
  • Storage
  • Order picking
  • Truck loading/unloading
  • Warehousing activities
  • Cleaning machinery by hand or pressure hose using food grade cleaning agents
  • Report all equipment and process issues.
  • Perform daily housekeeping tasks

As this is a large operation it is very important to

  • Report all safety incidents, including near misses and Hazard identification,
  • Participate and engage with the team in the delivery and development of corrective action and improvement programs and processes
  • Have a proactive approach to safety

Minimum professional requirements for this position are

  • Current Licence to perform high risk work (LF)
  • 2+ years' workplace operating experience
  • Experience in RF scanning an advantage but not necessary
  • Experience in electric forklifts, single and/or double deep reach
  • Ability to identify problems or malfunctions with machinery and equipment
  • Exhibits ability to work cautiously but efficiently
  • Possesses physical strength and stamina required to stand, walk, and lift for long periods of time.
