Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Forensic Accountant on a contract for 12 months with potential extension.

Position Overview

The APS6 Forensic Accountant is responsible for the collection, interpretation and examination of information or data, and contributing to the work areas reports, findings, decision making or recommendations.

The position is responsible for examining financial records to determine sources or applications of funds and assisting in the calculation of fraud against the Agency, and reviewing compiled analysis to determine case direction, priorities and outcomes.

The APS6 Forensic Accountant position is a team membership position that may be required to perform work that involves team leadership and management responsibilities requiring the setting of priorities and managing workflows of a team.

The position has reasonable autonomy and accountability to exercise both initiative and judgment to interpret legislation and policy, in the application of practices and procedures to achieve outcomes within the functions.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Gathering, examining, evaluating and interpreting qualitative and quantitative data and presenting the findings.
  • Conducting aspects of forensic accounting under guidance for serious and complex fraud investigation cases.
  • Using and maintaining information databases and other analytical tools to perform analysis, data extraction and manipulation for reporting tasks.
  • Assisting in the development and delivery of projects under guidance.
  • Supporting and mentoring staff, including coaching and training to build financial knowledge and capability.
  • Coordinating and performing quality assurance and data validation activities.
  • Exercising appropriate delegations in accordance with legislation and guidelines
