Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an EL1/2 Forensic Accountant on a contract for 12 months with potential extension (Non-Ongoing).

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Individually and/or as part of a team, lead financial investigations and analysis, extracting data, preparing reports and flow charts of financial transactions for the purposes of investigations into suspected breaches of agency administered legislation, and other relevant Commonwealth, State or Territory legislation.
  • Provide robust and timely advice and guidance on financial aspects of personal and commercial transactions, the flow of funds and methodologies used to reconstruct information for
  • Participate in investigation and litigation processes, including preparing and reviewing witness statements and affidavits, managing evidence in accordance with evidence management practices, as well as assisting in the preparating of briefs of evidence and giving evidence as required.
  • Develop and implement internal procedures and standard practices relating to financial investigations.
  • Provide expert advice on compliance and enforcement matters pertinent to agency administered schemes, which influence the decisions made by others, including supervisors and peers.
  • Coach, mentor and guide staff to develop their professional skills and capabilities and contribute to a learning culture.
  • Develop and maintain influential and productive working relationships with agency staff, and counterparts in other agencies to achieve section and branch goals.

Skills & Experience:

  • Ability to undertake forensic accounting and financial analysis activities within a regulatory or enforcement environment
  • Experience undertaking investigations in accordance with the Accounting Professional & Ethical Standards Board professional standard APES 215 Forensic Accounting Services.
  • Use of databases and information reporting systems.
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • CPA/CA memebership is highly desirable.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be required to have a Baseline security clearance.
