Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a FOI PIA Officer on a contract for 12 months with potential extension.

About the Role

The APS4 PIA Action Officer (Labour Hire) will, under direction, assist the team in the coordination of Participant Information Access (PIA) requests made to the Agency under the administrative PIA Scheme and will ensure the Agency meets its KPIs in relation to PIA deadlines and legal obligations in relation to the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Cth) [FOI Act].

The position will also assist the team with Freedom of Information (FOI) requests made to the Agency when there is capacity and assist the Agency to meet its legal obligations in relation to the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Cth) [FOI Act].

The APS4 PIA Action Officer (Labour Hire) will provide operational and administrative support that is informed and directed by sound knowledge in areas and may undertake some research and analysis activities. It will further assist with the development of the Agency's information handling requirements.

The position will have a limited contact with internal and external stakeholders and will be required to communicate and provide advice on a range of matters to resolve moderately complex enquiries.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Undertaking procedures to assist a PIA Decision Maker to create, process, make and close PIA decisions, ensuring all matters are recorded correctly on all databases in accordance with the PIA Scheme.
  • Preparing and drafting a range of material including data reports, briefing material and correspondence.
  • Providing administrative support to develop systems, processes and practical tools including training to support PIA and FOI handling and awareness.
  • Providing administrative access where necessary to relevant local servers, distribution lists and agency databases to PIA/FOI team members.
  • Assisting in preparing statistical reports for senior staff where required.
