The Role

We have partnered with a leading Mining Company to recruit a Principal Advisor, Finance Business Partner to support the senior leaders and leadership teams of this function. This is a great opportunity for someone to drive the financial planning and support the performance of a large business, with the ability to run financial analysis and planning processes and to identify opportunities and deliver results. This is a 3-month initial contract with the possibility of extension.

The Responsibilities

  • Drive business performance, providing decision and execution support to leaders across the portfolio.
  • Partner with stakeholders to proactively drive financial analysis and cost discipline and influence outcomes through providing a decision framework supported by insightful and accurate analysis
  • Build rapport with a variety of stakeholders across senior stakeholders in STP, S&D and Functions with a strong focus on the IS&T portfolio and across Finance including Controllership, Treasury, Tax and Risk
  • Lead the development of rigorous planning and drive improved business performance through highly effective forward plans
  • Provide senior management with relevant, detailed, accurate and timely financial analysis, studies and counsel to influence and shape financial strategy, analysis and market insight
  • Understand performance to identify improvement opportunities, and support the business in developing high value initiatives to optimize business outcomes
  • Drive process optimization both across the FBP team, fostering a continuous improvement mindset, leveraging available technologies
  • Identify areas for growth & development for the team and support development of training/opportunities to close these gaps
  • Ensure governance and compliance through effective application of financial controls and risk management


  • Bachelor and/or professional qualification MBA, ACA, CPA
  • 8 years + finance experience within a complex global organisation
  • Ability to solve complex problems where precedence may not exist
  • Genuine curiosity for understanding detailed business performance, and using that understanding to develop insights and improvement initiatives. Continuous improvement, value creation with evidence of identifying and mitigating risks
  • Strong background of influencing and working with diverse teams in matrix model
  • Expertise across a full range of standard business, finance and presentation toolkits (SAP, PowerPoint, Excel, PowerBI, etc.) and an aptitude for identifying technology based solutions to enable increased efficiency and performance improvement
