We are currently recruiting for a Facilities Manager for our client, a NSW Government organisation based near Bankstown on a temporary basis from mid-January 2021 for approximately 4-6 months. Pay rate is $450-$500 per day + super.

Key accountabilities

  • Prepare work plans, cost estimates, draft tenders and quotations for renovation, repair and maintenance of their properties and participate in the selection of tenders in accordance with NSW Government policies, procedures and practices
  • Coordinate and supervise the administration of contracts and evaluate completion of works prior to recommending progress or final payment
  • Monitor and manage allocated budgets and maintain expenditure records within the various work programs
  • Identify and investigate projects, prepare sketch plans, design briefs, develop work proposals and provide estimates for management approval while preparing proposals for inclusion in the annual Major Periodic Maintenance Program
  • Conduct on-site surveys and address site related issues and oversee the work of contractors engaged to undertake repairs and maintenance to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, building codes and legislation
  • Prepare monthly reports on works performed within the Facility Manager's regions, including other regular progress or special reports as may be required


Key challenges

  • Must ensure that budgeted renovation, maintenance and/or repair work is undertaken within specifications, time and budget agreements
  • Work practice must ensure that quality assurance procedures are applied on all projects and that sound Work Health & Safety practices are implemented on site
  • Respond to unscheduled/urgent work ensuring minimal delay and disruption


Key Requirements

  • A trade background in either Building or Electrical is essential
  • Certificate IV in Building and Construction or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in the supervision of building works, facilities management and contract preparation/administration.
  • Previous NSW Government experience and exposure to working with heritage properties would be highly desirable
  • Good working knowledge of NSW building codes and regulations, Australian Standards, quality assurance procedures and WH&S legislation
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels
  • Current NSW driver licence


Occasional travel may also be required across NSW.
