Chandler Macleod are currently looking to acquire experienced Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic's reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent.
This role is a FIFO roster ex. Perth


  • Maintain a safe workplace and assess risks associated with tasks performed
  • Maintenance of SMS fleet of mobile equipment and other plant that is contractually under the responsibility of SMS Innovative Mining Solutions
  • Undertake tasks as requested by Leading Hands / Supervisors / SMS Management

  • Diagnose, overhaul, repair, tune, maintain and test diesel and petrol/gas-powered heavy equipment including trucks, buses, dozers and other earthmoving equipment
  • Detect mechanical and electrical faults by using instruments that check charging and starting circuitry, batteries, ignition and ignition timing, fuel injection systems and speed control, cylinder compression, engine condition, braking efficiency, and wheel balance and alignment
  • Repair and maintain the hydraulic components of diesel and petrol/gas engines that are used to power attachments such as hoists, booms, scrapers, buckets and augers.
  • Comply with the clients Performance and Productivity, Quality, Teamwork and Leadership, Safety and Environmental and planning and organisation policies and standards.

    As with all roles other tasks and responsibilities beyond those listed may be required to be undertaken from time to time. Additionally, you may be seconded to another area or project as part of your development or where you possess competencies, skills or specific experience to the function you will be performing.

    Must be able to complete paperwork in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Troubleshooting, diagnostic, repair and service skills

    Experience & Ability
  • 3+ years' experience with heavy earthmoving machinery
  • Ability to be able to comply with safety requirements of SMS Innovative Mining and the Client to all levels.
  • To be able to work autonomously and in a team environment within your own crew and with cross over crews.

    You will proactively demonstrate your commitment to safety by using your experience and judgement to ensure you, and your crew, operate in a safe working manner at all times. Your ability to set good examples of work ethic and integrity, together with your positive mindset in dealing with work and people, will be highly regarded.
