Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a SFIA 6 Executive Officer on a contract for 12 months with potential extension.

About the Role:

The Executive Advisor is part of the office of the CIO and works cross-functionally to support the ITD executive and relevant stakeholders with both strategic and tactical advice to enable cross program and operations integration, strategy design and execution.

This is a position of trust that requires sound judgement and exemplary levels of personal integrity, sensitivity, confidentiality, and discretion. The role works with a high degree of autonomy and limited direction, but also highly collaboratively across several SME domains to drive efficiencies and outcomes through identifying opportunities for evolution and optimisation.

The incumbent must possess superior written and oral communication skills, strong coordination, liaison and influencing skills. They must be experienced and confident with preparing for and presenting to C Suite executives - this may include at times influencing a change in thinking or direction and 'breaking norms' to support growth and maturity.

The capacity to foster productive relationships between different areas of the department and with external stakeholders is essential for this role.

  • Coordinate and/or prepare complex and/or sensitive correspondence, corporate documentation, submissions, speeches, talking points, briefing papers and other strategic communication and correspondence.
  • Undertake complex research and analysis for the CIO/delegates as required.
  • Lead and/or undertake meeting preparation and secretariat duties as required for appropriate senior level meetings and workshops.
  • Leverage contemporary ways of working and IT service delivery model to identify cross-functional gaps and opportunities; to foster cohesion, integrated program, and strategy execution.

Essential Criteria:

  • Provide strategic advice to ITD Executive, and directly to CIO as required.
  • Shape and/or lead initiatives as required to support ITD Executive and/or business stakeholders.
  • Work closely with SMEs across ITD domains, and lean-in to directly support delivery / execution as needed.
  • Undertake work activities with an awareness of their possible impact on strategic or operational outcomes for the group.
  • This role has facets of both advisory and 'hands on' activity - requiring the incumbent to have the willingness to shift gears as needed depending on the task at hand and where support and uplift is required.
    • Support and enhance culture and ways of working aspects
    • Establish and maintain productive working relationships with and providing a high level of service to:
      • members of the Senior Executive
      • the Offices of the Minister for Health and Sport and the Assistant Minister for Health
      • staff at all levels across the department
      • senior officers in external agencies and organisations
      • Liaise with senior internal and external stakeholders in relation to complex or sensitive matters.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Relevant qualifications aligned to of senior level strategy, IT, government and enabling business outcomes are desirable but not mandatory.
  • A Baseline or NV1 security clearance or ability to obtain one is highly desirable.
