Environment Specialist

Our WA client is seeking to engage an Environment Specialist- fly-in fly-out
 
Primary purpose of role:
  • To coach on effective risk management and provide technical expertise to build Environmental capability in line leaders.
Vision:
  • The Environment Specialist is successful when line leaders understand their environmental risk profile and ensure effective controls are in place.
Responsibilities:
  • Support line leaders in developing field leadership capabilities, provide subject matter expertise on Environment field leadership activities, and execute field leadership on the effectiveness of HSE owned systems, processes, risks and controls.
  • Coach risk owners on effective risk management and participate as Environmental subject matter expert in risk register reviews, risk assessments, and determining effective controls.
  • Participate as subject matter expert in Environment event investigations, and coach on the investigation process.
  • Ensures line leaders are equipped to respond to and manage environmental events and understand internal/external reporting obligations.
  • Ensuring risk owners understand environmental legal obligations.
  • Support line leaders in the preparation for and execution of internal/external audits
  • Utilise work management to administrate environmental approval obligations and meet reporting time frames for event and compliance reporting.
  • Understand technical elements of key site environmental risks to articulate to risk owners, and inform site risk management processes.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify approvals to enable operations, and facilitate the Management of Change (MoC) process for new/amended approvals.
  • Ensure the availability of accurate environment data to enable risk owner decision making.
  • Supervise contractors involved in the execution of HSE function owned work, ensure they are competent and that they understand the purpose and functionality of all Critical Controls relevant to their work

  • Develop, coach and mentor junior team members
  • Good computer-based skills with knowledge in various MS programs and familiarity with HSE data management systems.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written English language proficiency.
 
EXPERIENCE (desired)
  • 2-3 years experience in an Operations environment
  • Knowledge of Western Australian or equivalent environmental approval and licencing framework;
  • Experience supervising teams and managing contractors
