Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS5-6 Environmental Officer on a contract for 8 months.

About the Role:

The Template Review Team plays a key role in ensuring statutory decisions made under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) are legally robust. Candidate/s will work as part of this small team to review and maintain the 200+ templates used throughout EPBC Act assessment and approval processes as a key quality control for sound decision making.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Some of the general duties across the positions may include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing and editing templates to ensure they're fit-for-purpose, accurate and consistent.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement and best practice for templates, including identifying trends and issues to be resolved.
  • Organising and participating in workshops with assessment staff across the division to discuss current business templates to identify improvements and/or inconsistencies.
  • Maintaining a group inbox, including triaging quick fixes, to ensure timely response to enquiries.
  • Collating and logging issues/feedback into a database to track and report on template review activities.
  • Maintaining a procedures manual to ensure review methods are well documented and up-to-date.
  • Preparation and regular review of project management documents and other reporting requirements.
  • Administrative duties to support the work of the section, including organisation of meetings, record keeping and maintenance of project management documents.

  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to complex problems solving, including ability to identify issues and suggest solutions.
  • Demonstrated organisation and planning skills including an ability to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Experience in coordinating and providing administrative support with a strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, with strong communication skills and the ability to build working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Experience in environment regulation and/or environment assessment desirable, including ability to interpret and translate legislation and policy in a regulatory setting.
