Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an EL1 Environmental Officer on a contract for 6 months with potential extension of 6 Months.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Progressing work to adopt amendments to the London Protocol, including associated legislative amendments and parliamentary processes.
  • Project scoping and planning for further legislative review and subsequent policy development or legislative/regulatory amendments.
  • Leading administrative and engagement work required to fulfil Australia's obligations as a party to the London Protocol, including the preparation of meeting briefs, ministerial briefs and correspondence.
  • Gathering and analysing information to make policy recommendations.
  • Leading internal and external stakeholder engagement and consultation associated with the above responsibilities.
  • Supporting the day to day work of the Section, including:
  • contributing to business improvement activities that are part of the Sections' priority work agenda
  • strategic planning, this may include work on a stakeholder engagement strategy and/or international engagement strategy
  • preparing guidance material for stakeholders in relation to implementation of Australia's obligations under the London Protocol.

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with legislation or similar parliamentary processes would be an advantage.
  • Experience working with international agreements would be beneficial, but legislation or policy development experience is preferred over international experience.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be required to have a Baseline security clearance.
