Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS6 Engagement Officer on a contract until June 2021, with potential extensions of 2X 12 months.

Position Overview

Our client is looking for a highly motivated and talented person with a strong background in project management, stakeholder engagement and communications, as well as event management. The successful candidates will have demonstrated capacity for managing and delivering workshops, seminars, and conferences. They will also have demonstrated capacity to identify key priorities, develop project plans, and effectively manage complex projects and will also demonstrate sound research skills, analytical skills and well-developed skills in event coordination management.

The successful candidates will have excellent interpersonal and liaison skills including the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders. Additionally, the successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in multi-agency liaison and stakeholder engagement experience, particularly with government agencies involved in Australia's national security community, and will be required to identify stakeholders' expectations and deliver outcomes in line with stakeholders' strategic goals.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, manage, coordinate, and facilitate the client's outreach activities including workshops, seminars, conferences, forums, meetings, and other activities as directed.
  • Engage and negotiate with stakeholders on complex issues as directed to promote civil-military-police coordination, supporting client's mandate, and achieve outcomes. Assist the Assistant Director and Director Engagements in managing client's relationships and engagement activities as required including existing and any new stakeholder relationships. Identify areas and groups for the Engagements Directorate to potentially pursue.
  • Work collaboratively, build, and sustain effective and productive relationships.
  • Represent client at domestic and (when required) international activities in a professional manner and in accordance with the protocols and Code of Conduct.
  • As required, assist in drafting travel arrangements for staff and people from external organisations in liaison with travel expertise from business operations section. Draft a range of written documents including procurement contracts. Assist the directorate, and work in collaboration with Business Operations, as required with procurement of staffing and outsourced services for projects.
  • Take the initiative to progress work to meet business objectives, provide frank and sound advice and guidance on more complex issues.
  • Identify and interpret relevant legislation, policies, strategies, business, and team requirements and apply these to the work area.
  • Resolve problems and implement alternative courses of action.
  • Undertake additional tasks as directed.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be required to have an NV1 clearance.
