Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an EL1 Emergency Management Advisor on a contract until June 2020, with potential extensions of 12 months.

Position Overview

Our Client is seeking a highly motivated candidate who is a key team player to assist with emergency management. The candidate will have the opportunity to work across learning and development, preparedness and exercises, evaluation and lessons, and engagement areas. The candidate will incorporate emergency management perspectives into programs and strengthen relationships between Emergency Management Australia (EMA) and client.

Emergency Management involves the plans, structures and arrangements which are established to bring together the normal endeavors of government, voluntary and private agencies in a comprehensive and coordinated way to deal with the whole spectrum of emergency needs including prevention, preparedness, response and recovery.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • contributing to client's whole-of-government lessons program for cross agency exercises and cross-agency responses to offshore crises, including strategy development, discussion forums and lessons and evaluation collection and analysis;
  • contributing to the design, planning and execution of civil-military-police preparedness activities and exercises;
  • providing an emergency management perspective during the planning and delivery of programs, including education and training, engagement, preparedness, lessons and evaluation, research, and cross-cutting programs;
  • policy dialogue, project management and coordination;
  • strengthening client-EMA collaboration, understanding and knowledge sharing;
  • maintaining and strengthening relationships between client and EMA, as well as with client's stakeholders, including government agencies, the Australian Council for International Development and the Australian non-government community.
  • -identifying areas of mutual interest or opportunities for client to contribute to EMA programs and activities and opportunities for EMA to contribute to and shape client programs and activities.
  • contributing to the development of strategy and policy advice, and the conduct of round tables and forums on key civil-military-police issues.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be required to have an NV1 clearance.
