Position title: Electrical Project Manager - Tier 1 - Steel Manufacturing
Contract Estimation Duration: 6-12 month contract (with possibilities of extension(s)) or permanency.

Purpose of this position:
 To assist in planning and co-ordinating the design, procurement, construction and commissioning of assigned projects, including the preparation of proposals.
 To assist in obtaining clear agreement of client objectives.
 To assist in developing the project cost estimate.
 To assist in developing the project schedule.
To follow HSE principles, practices, policies and procedures.
We require an Electrical Project Manager to deliver the following projects for our Tier 1 manufacturing client:
1. High Voltage Equipment Upgrade
2. TX1 Replacement Transformer.
3. Commence FEL for the Static Var Compensator project.

General Requirements:
 Effectively manages assigned budgets within total project scope.
 Generate work orders with specified budgets and close work orders in a timely fashion, or when requested to do so by the Project Manager.
 Ensure that work order budgets are not exceeded.
 Ensure that the project budget is not exceeded (where responsibility for smaller projects is with the Project Engineer).
 Report costs to the Project Manager within agreed timeframes.
 Assist in the definition of customer requirements/objectives.
 Assist in defining a clear project scope.
 Use Engineering change management practices strictly to report scope and other project changes.
 Manage and monitor project performance on an ongoing basis as required, to allow early identification of issues and opportunities, and to take appropriate actions.
 Contributes to the development and updating of the project plan/schedule.
 Conduct work activities to meet the project plan/schedule.
 Supervises work in accordance with the approved project plan/schedule.
 Provide assistance for resource and financial requirements of the project plan.
 Provide assistance for the management of the design, procurement and construction activities to meet the project schedule.
 Prepare project reports and corrective action plans.
 Timely and effective documentation turnover and provides assistance in project close-out.
 Prepare preliminary cost estimates for assigned scope elements within a project.
 Use cost reports for cost control of projects.
 Monitoring of assigned cost aspects of the project to forecast costs, identify trends and take action to avoid cost overruns and take advantage of project value improvement opportunities.
 Set clear objectives for the design team.
 Ensure design team is aware of, and complies with, client's Basis of Design and applicable regulations and codes.
 Monitor design activities, interdisciplinary data flow and communications.
 Conduct relevant design activities where required including concept generation, design calculations, equipment sizing, specification preparation and organising certifications where relevant.
 Procurement / Subcontracts Management.
 Apply Engineering procurement processes throughout the project to ensure that goods meet specification, are delivered on time and are within budget.
 Assist management of the procurement and contracting strategies including the liaising with client representatives responsible for support of these strategies.

Education:
 Degree in Engineering or equivalent with 3+yrs practical and relevant experience
 Site experience in heavy industry desirable
