One of our clients who operates Australia's second largest underground gold mine, is seeking the services of an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to join the Chandler Macleod Team on their remote Site in the Northern Territory. Candidates that are Brisbane, Darwin, Perth or Alice Springs based are encouraged to apply, with key accountabilities including:

  • Monitors and reports safety and environment standards and directs mitigation strategies supporting a work environment that is protective of human health and the environment in accordance with Newmont standards.
  • Directs the execution planning, design, engineering, procurement, cost, scheduling and construction activities of a business by coordinating efforts of various internal departments, project development teams and outside consulting resources.
  • Lead development of proposals and cost estimates; estimates business needs including equipment, materials and personnel; schedules work to meet completion dates and technical specifications.
  • Reviews and evaluate contracts for work to be performed by consultants and outside contractors; monitors budgets, approves plans and designs and resolves problems as they arise.
  • Monitors all work in progress to ensure that quality and engineering standards are met and that designs are effective through the entire process; approves changes to designs or schedules as necessary.
  • Provides technical direction in the resolution of problems associated with the design, engineering and construction of projects. Problems will vary in severity and require an advanced knowledge of project management to ensure adequate resolution.
  • Provides technical assistance to operating personnel during start-up phase; including management of personnel.
  • Lead internal and external business relations for electrical projects.
  • Resolve construction logistics, supply, and timeline.
  • Applies opportunity and risk assessment practices, and use of Value Improving practices.
  • Generate progress reporting of projects on a monthly basis to the Project Superintendent.

Successful candidates will have the following experience:

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Require minimum of 10 years' experience in diverse technical, supervisory and management roles in the mining industry
  • A proven track record in project execution, including experience with brownfields projects and demonstrated commitment to the successful implementation of the project.
  • Demonstrated experience with self-perform, EPCM, EPC and 'salt and pepper' project execution teams
  • Experience in operation of gold processing plants and Underground Operations is preferred but not essential
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate the assimilation of Project and Operation's Business plans, to achieve the project objectives
  • Excellent communication both written and verbal skills with the ability to present findings to senior management
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite


Candidates must also be able to:

  • Pass a Pre-Employment Medical and Drug Screen
  • Provide a current National Police Clearance or be willing to obtain one
  • Provide a current Drivers Licence
