Electrical Plant Maintenance Engineer

Role Summary
The primary purpose of the Electrical Plant Maintenance Engineer is to co-ordinates the delivery of the electrical plant maintenance works program within PAL and CP zone and distribution substations, including electrical plant on the distribution network, to enable the effective delivery of plant maintenance activities in compliance with Electricity Networks policies and strategies

Responsibilities and Key Deliverables:
  • Co-ordinate the delivery of the Maintenance works programs in accordance with standards and policies.
  • Develop and prepare annual work programs and associated contracts for issue to service providers.
  • Provide support (data and/or technical expertise) to the Works Program Delivery team, field resources and other related key stakeholders during maintenance works, system faults and defect investigations.
  • Applies risk-based decision making to complete risk assessments for maintenance tasks and to support the maintenance program.
  • Write and review work instructions and forms to meet policy requirements for field resources
  • Project manage Opex and plant failure rectification works to required quality, OH&S & environmental standards and ensuring customer and commercial needs are met.
  • Manage contract processes associated with maintenance activities
  • Provide information to assist with the development and preparation of maintenance work budgets
  • Produce incident and plant failure reports as required.
  • Point of contact for EP&T resources on maintenance delivery matters
  • Research and implement new efficient and cost effective maintenance practices and methodologies to compliment CP/PAL policies and Standards.
  • Provide technical support to; and liaise with key stakeholders to modify, update or risk assess delivery outcomes
  • Proactively provide technical feedback to asset and strategy engineers or other key stakeholders around plant condition and maintenance
  • Negotiate with key stakeholders modified processes, systems or project related outcomes (e.g.: target dates)
  • Develop and maintain strong internal key stakeholder networks to review and improve program delivery
  • Proactively propose strategies to improve team or individual performance
  • Contribute to regular reporting and information forums to review work programs, maintenance methods and project progress
  • Utilise SAP and other systems
  • Analyse data and provide feedback to Asset Management, including improvement opportunities, etc.
  • Oversee data management for all related systems to ensure accurate and auditable records are maintained
  • Undertake audits as required, e.g. SAP data accuracy, SAP/GIS closeouts, etc.
  • Establish SAP Maintenance Plans for business wide programs
  • Pro-actively pursue innovation in relation to products, services, processes, practices and procedures. Effectively implement innovation through gaining ownership from stakeholders and through effective managing any resultant changes
  • Assist in the analysis and modification of work practices relating to the electrical plant maintenance, testing and commissioning of assets.

To be successful in this role:
  • Demonstrated ability to apply program and project management principles in an electrical sub-transmission and distribution environment
  • Substantial experience in electrical plant maintenance, testing and construction of zone substation plant, regulators and ACR's
  • A demonstrated ability to solve technical problems hands-on with innovative methods and technology
  • Knowledge and understanding of Company policies and procedures as related to the maintenance of zone substations and distribution assets
  • Electrical Engineering Bachelor's Degree with experience especially relating to electric power system
  • It is mandatory that the incumbent of this role complies with the Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019. They will need to become registered or be willing to become registered once sufficiently experienced.
