About the team:
The Younger People in Residential Aged Care (YPIRAC) team is part of the newly formed YPIRAC/Hospital Interface Branch. The YPIRAC team provides specialised support for people with disability who are living in, or at risk of permanently entering aged care facilities. The team play a key role in the implementation of the government's YPIRAC Strategy for participants aged under 65 years. The team works with health liaison officers (HLO), Agency Policy and Mainstream Interface teams, and National Delivery. The Hospital Interface team provides an important link between state and territory hospital staff and the Agency. The team works with hospital staff to ensure participants who are medically ready for discharge have the right supports in place when returning to the community. The team works with planners, participants and hospital staff


About the role:
The EL1 Assistant Director Provider Engagement is an important team leadership position within the agency and will have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across wide-ranging activities of substantial depth involving significant detail.
It will provide the leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management and decision making for staff working within the positions assigned Work Area. The role will exercise a considerable degree of independence to engage in very complex problem solving and issues management within the functions.
The position will exercise sound decision-making and judgement to produce high level policy advice and operational support. The EL1 Assistant Director Provider Engagement will coordinate and assume responsibility to undertake detailed or sensitive projects that may include performing varied activities involving many different and unrelated processes or methods that may impact on the strategic or operational outcomes that support the agency's objectives.
The role is responsible for actively managing key internal and external stakeholder relationships and may be required to represent and negotiate on behalf of the agency.


Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Working closely with key stakeholders including other Federal Government departments, State and Local Government, providers, carers, people with disability and mainstream organisations to address market challenges.
  • Developing market capability and capacity to ensure the support needs of participants are met.
  • Supporting the development and promotion of resources that enable market development and improving the agency's understanding of the market environment and provider experience, market conditions and challenges.
  • Undertaking the role as a contact for key providers whilst supporting provider market and agency provider processes, and representing the agency in discussions with providers, provider peak bodies and industry stakeholders.
  • Supporting the development and utilisation of channels to maintain knowledge of policies, processes and market strategies.
  • Supporting information sharing activities with key internal stakeholders including national office portfolios (markets, operations and communications) and other business areas. Implementing and supporting national engagement strategies intended to develop market and provider maturity.
  • Drafting and proof-reading briefs, papers, reports, QoN's, QTB's, TP's and complaint responses.
