Chandler Macleod is currently recruiting for an experienced EL1 Assistant Director Transition Communications and Engagement to join a leading Federal Government agency. This is an immediate start with a contract term of 12 months and based in Sydney NSW.

Role Description:

The position is required to coordinate and assume responsibility to undertake detailed or sensitive project tasks that may include performing varied activities involving many different and unrelated processes or methods that may impact on the strategic or operational outcomes that support the agency’s project objectives to improve how we deliver.
 
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Contributing to the strategic direction of projects and business improvement initiatives, driving the strategic and co-ordinated management of targeted communications and engagement activities.
  • Leading staff to deliver timely, innovative, efficient and evidence-based communications and engagement strategies, plans, content and activities that support Agency Corporate Plan and project objectives.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders within the Agency, guiding the team with best practice ways to provide advice, quality assurance and support to business areas to meet their communication objectives.
  • Managing and optimising internal and external communications and engagement channels to reach intended audiences.
  • Utilising reporting metrics to review the impact of communication and engagement approaches, identifying areas of overlap and key gaps to continue to refine and improve plans and strategies.
  • Identifying and mitigating reputational risks associated with communication, engagement and project activities.
  • Fostering creativity and innovation in content creation across a range of channels, sharing best practice and new skills in the team.

  • Identifying and understanding problems and opportunities by gathering, analysing, and interpreting quantitative and qualitative information; choosing the best course of action by establishing clear decision criteria, generating and evaluating alternatives, and making timely decisions; taking action that is consistent with available facts and constraints and optimises probable consequences.
  • Influencing stakeholders to drive change.
