    Available Position: Assistant Director Risk (Project Risk Specialist)

About the role:
The EL1 Assistant Director Risk (Project Specialist) is accountable under broad direction to undertake complex work that delivers quality outcomes. The position is a team membership position and has a concurrent requirement to resolve issues and risks across a broad range of activities of substantial depth involving significant detail and to provide support to the team leadership of their work area in the planning and coordination of the team.
You will assist the Agency in the successful delivery of its material projects, ensuring the application of sound risk management practices and compliance with Commonwealth policies and governance requirements. You will provide specialist advice on delivery and delivered risks, and applicable fraud and compliance enhancement opportunities. You will ensure the application of the Agency's project risk management approach are embedded within each project and can confidently anticipate and manage opportunities and threats as they arise.


Your duties will include:

  • Providing specialist risk advice to bespoke and interdependent projects
  • Guiding the implementation and utilisation of the Agency's project risk management approach
  • Reviewing and providing specialist risk input on documentation to ensure appropriate identification and consideration of related project, operational and fraud risks.
  • Assist with the identification, assessment and validation of key risks, issues, controls and treatment plans, including cross dependency risks between projects and programs.
  • Monitoring and analysing trends in program or project risk management and reporting insights / escalating issues to the Risk Advisory Branch Manager and Chief Risk Officer.
  • Supporting the development and advocacy of the Agency's project risk management system.
  • Managing, delivering and monitoring projects that may have an organisation-wide impact.
  • Developing, managing and implementing project plans and schedules in accordance with the Agency's project management framework and considering project interdependencies.


What you will bring to the role?

  • Previous experience in the public sector or disability sector is highly desirable
  • Pre-Engagement Check
  • Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) clearance
  • Ability to access and use client records management system (CRM) and business applications
  • Understanding of, or experience in, quality management systems, continuous improvement programs and transformational management roles within a supply chain management, procurement or contract management organisation.
  • Understanding of project and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Highly developed leadership skills.
