Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an EL1 Assistant Director Quality Safety on a contract until the 30th of June 2024 with the possibility of extension.

Position Overview

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Agency’s priorities to support high quality mental health service delivery. This includes but is not limited to:
  1. Manage the Adverse Event Analysis procedure for the Agency.
  2. Provide Secretariat support
  3. Support the delivery of specific information/training/education to the Agency’s staff about Continuous Quality Improvement.
  4. Manage the Agency’s continuous quality improvement register
  5. Manage the Agency’s Accreditation process, ensuring applies a continuous quality improvement framework
  6. Support the collection of relevant data across the Agency to report against the Mental Health and Wellbeing Services Division and Internal Quality and Safety Standards
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve Section, Branch and Agency goals as part of the Commonwealth Government’s broader business, by anticipating and responding to stakeholder needs.
  • In conjunction with the Quality and Safety Director and Clinical Operations Director, manage strategic planning for longer-term initiatives, including maintaining mental health accreditation.
  • Manage documentation to track, monitor, and report on projects and business as usual activities.
  • Develop and review advice, input, briefings, papers, submissions, and correspondence for use in both internal and external decision-making forums.
  • Provide supervision, mentoring and coaching for direct reports to effectively manage performance and encourage professional growth.
  • Support an environment that encourages a willingness to adopt participative workplace practices in line with policies of WHS, Workplace Diversity and the Australian Public Service values, Employment Principles, and the APS Code of Conduct.
Desirable:
The ideal candidate will have an understanding of mental health services, as well as relevant experience in the Australian Public Service, and the Australian Defence Force. They will have demonstrated experience in the area of quality and safety activities and/or project management.

Mandatory Requirements:
  • Qualifications in Psychology, Social Sciences or a related field
  • Policy development experience
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of health or social services
  • Program Management experience
  • Staff and team management experience.
  • A high standard of written and oral communication is essential for this role.
  • This role has many competing priorities. The successful applicant must be IT proficient and able to work flexibly across multiple issues with limited guidance.
  • There is a high degree of stakeholder engagement in this role, requiring the successful applicant to have extensive stakeholder management experience and demonstrated communication skills to effectively manage these relationships.
