Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an EL1 Assistant Director Pricing Policy on a contract for 12 months.

Position Overview

Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include:
  • Sound decision making taking into account the data, public submissions, working group consultations and the broader market impacts to inform policy development.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to a changing environment where decisions may be based on limited data, and to navigate through ambiguity with strong analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Project management oversight for the development of key projects with internal and external stakeholders to ensure delivery on time to the expected quality.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, to achieve desired outcomes and to maintain strong, productive working relationships.
  • Ability to communicate complex, technical and sensitive issues verbally and in writing to a range of audience

  • Highly developed strategic thinking including vision, perception and evaluation skills and the ability to assess impacts, governance and compliance. Ability to develop, implement and communicate the strategic direction of the work area.

Analytical
  • Providing direction regarding analysis, research and recommendations for pricing and costing policy reports.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesise and coordinate complex information to form decisions that are evidence based and withstand the scrutiny of a range of different stakeholders.
Stakeholder management
  • Ability to negotiate effectively by listening to differing views to develop a clear understanding of the issues, and to present persuasive responses.
  • Ability to pre-empt various stakeholder expectations and potential concerns, as well as developing strategies to mitigate such concerns.
Communication
  • Ability to communicate complex and sensitive issues to influence decision-makers in writing including board papers, working group papers, executive brief and project reports, as well as verbally with working groups, senior management, and staff.
  • Ability to clearly articulate evidence-based pricing decisions for Agency’s participants, providers and the disability sector in writing through the Annual Pricing Review report as well as verbally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinating and providing expert advice to senior stakeholders and external bodies.
Technical
  • Demonstrated understanding of the role of Agency and how pricing policy contributes to the organisational goals.
Desirable
  • Previous writing experience in Government Agencies.
  • Understanding of basic economics and the impact of pricing in terms of economic impact.
  • Knowledge or experience of using quantitative and qualitative data to inform policy.
