Chandler Macleod is currently recruiting for an experienced EL1 Assistant Director, Media and Communications to join a leading Federal Government agency. This is an immediate start with a Non ongoing contract term of 6 months.

About the Role:
The position of Assistant Director Media and Communications reports to the Director Media and Communications and will lead a small team to deliver high quality media and communications services that support the work of ACLEI and the transition to the NACC.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Oversee department’s media and communications services, ensuring appropriate engagement and collaboration occurs with key stakeholders.
  • Lead the production and implementation of a range of communication products, projects and campaigns to deliver specific stakeholder and business outcomes, including the department’s transition.
  • Manage an effective and professional media function to ensure appropriate media monitoring and timely responses to media enquiries.
  • Contribute to defining, planning and scheduling work of the team and respond flexibly to changing requirements
  • Ensure the high quality and consistency of media and communications outputs and outcomes.
  • Manage a small team including setting performance expectations and delivery of work.
Capabilities Required:
  • Managing various stakeholder views and requirements to deliver high impact communications and engagement projects to raise awareness, shift attitudes and support the needs of the agency during a period of significant growth and change.
  • Balancing a complex workload of day-to-day obligations as well as strategic long-term projects with the competing interests and priorities of multiple stakeholders.
  • Anticipating and responding to challenges which may impede effective delivery against strategic objectives, including identifying mechanisms to mitigate these risks.
Mandatory Requirements:
  • The occupant of this position must have a minimum Baseline AGSVA security clearance.
