Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an EL1 Assistant Director Finance on a contract for 7 months with potential extension for 2x6 months.
Position Overview
Duties & Responsibilities:
Duties may include some or all of the following:
  • actively contribute to the financial management of the agency
  • assisting with quality assurance process and supporting all statutory and compliance reporting obligations
  • build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes for the team
  • coordinate and prepare a range of written material including various reports, executive briefings, financial submissions and business plans and budget related processes and documentation
  • exercise appropriate delegations in accordance with legislation and guidelines
  • external and internal budgeting and reporting
  • guide program staff and work in consultation with program, policy and operational staff to understand business processes
  • identify, develop and implement opportunities to improve financial management and accounting practices
  • lead and mentor a team, including resource planning, work allocation, monitoring of tasks, professional supervision and development
  • provide high level financial advice and assistance to the Chief Financial Officer, National Manager and Director on a variety of financial issues
  • reviewing systems and processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and taking a proactive role in implementing change.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Knowledge and understanding of:
  • advanced management and leadership principles
  • Business Activity Reporting and Analytics Model, methodologies, programs and systems
  • legislation, policies, procedures and information management requirements relevant to the work area
  • relevant systems and tools
  • roles and responsibilities of the agency including the legislative, regulatory and compliance frameworks
  • the Australian Accounting Standards
  • the agency’s Enterprise Agreement and conditions of employment
  • the agency’s privacy, ethics, workplace health and safety and security protocols
  • the agency’s strategic and operating environment
  • the function of the work area and its role in the wider agency
  • the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act (PGPA).
