Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an EL1 Assistant Director Finance on an initial contract of 12 Months, with an extensions.


Key Responsibilities :
In accordance with the principles of workplace diversity, Workplace Health and Safety, participative work practices and values, and under limited supervision and within the standards for positions at this level, an Assistant Director, Finance is responsible for these duties:

  • External Budget administration
    o liaise with other client Branch Finance Managers for Program 2.5 funding; and
    o Liaise with client External Budget section.

  • Internal Budgeting development
    o Coordinate and provide strategic input to the internal budget processes and timeframes within Open Arms;
    o provide advice on the establishment of realistic and achievable budgets to the National Manager;
    o coordination of budget change requests and management of the review and approval process;
    o provide financial advice and support to Regional Directors and National Directors with regard to their internal budget; and
    o liaise with Directors and Regional Clinical Practice Managers assisting in resolving any inconsistencies and issues as they arise.
  • Reporting and Forecasting
    o Undertake financial analysis and management of monthly financial reporting;
    o Provide strategic financial advice with the management of forecasting, budget changes, pressures and impacts on a monthly basis, including reporting of these to the Resources Branch;
    o Brief the National Manager on monthly variance analysis;
    o forecasting budget changes, pressures and impacts on a monthly basis, in consultation with directors;
    o reporting of variances and forecasting to the Business Support Services Division; and
    o provide strategic financial advice to the National Manager, Deputy National Manager, Assistant National Manager and Directors.
  • Develop and maintain budget and financial procedures, templates and models.
  • Other duties as directed by supervisor to support the efficient operations of the service.
  • Apply the principles of cooperative and safe working practices consistent with the APS Values, APS Code of Conduct and the Department's mission, vision, approach and values.

    The successful applicant is required to have extensive experience in financial management accounting.

    Due to nature of work , candidate for this position is required to be an Australian citizen and ready to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance .
