About the role:
The Assistant Director Strategy Development is accountable under direction of a Director Strategy Development, and Branch Manager of Strategy Branch, to undertake work with a high level of complexity that has strategic, political and operational significance. The position will be responsible for analysis and insight development contributing to strategy development, policies, priorities and operational practices.

It will be required to coordinate and assume responsibility for highly complex, sensitive projects or work programs aimed at achieving the agency's mission. You will make an impact by supporting the Strategy and Priorities Division through analysis and insight development and the communication of compelling strategic decisions that drive benefits for participants, their families and carers. The decisions you help deliver will shape the Agency for years to come.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Solve Agency problems that matter - work in cross-functional teams to scope Agency problems, structure issues, conduct analyses, create insight, and communicate findings leading to action
  • Collaborate to provide strategic insight - work with a range of internal stakeholders to shape and improve recommendations on a wide range of Agency issues
  • Engage with senior leaders - work closely with senior executives to structure problems and shape recommendations
  • Develop unique insights - lead and develop fact-based quantitative and qualitative analysis to support recommendations
  • Write compelling communications - lead creation of materials for the Minister, Board and Executive Leadership Team to communicate perspectives, recommendations and implications for the Agency


Desirable experience:

  • 2-6 years' experience in strategy development, ideally at a Tier 1 strategy firm
  • Track record of significant contribution to strategic projects that deliver insightful and actionable recommendations
  • Experience working in complex cross-functional teams
  • Established personal tool-kit to cut through organisational complexity and ambiguity
  • Emotional intelligence in working with stakeholders and leaders at all levels of the organisation
  • Willing to get your hands dirty where required
  • Experience of living with disability desirable
