As the Region continues to experience significant growth, the Community, Planning & Environment Division of Port Macquarie Hastings Council are looking for an Economic Development an Investment Manager to drive the Strategic development, leadership, management and planning across Port Macquarie Hastings region.

Why the team needs you

The Economic Development Manager will lead, support, and coordinate the day-to-day operations to drive operational outcomes and high performance within their team. Through a collaborative approach to team culture, the Economic Development Manager will coordinate their team’s activities, and lead change and improvement opportunities across their functional areas and ensure comprehensive and innovative best practice outcomes for the Council as well as:
  • Strategically prioritise activities that most effectively deliver on Council’s Economic Development objectives.
  • Lead and develop partnership relationships with local business and industry, government, internal, regional, and other stakeholders to achieve quality economic development outcomes.
  • Lead the production and analysis of economic development data trends and developments to deliver effective economic development.
  • Lead the identification of Economic Development opportunities that includes collaborative partnerships and co design within Council and the community
  • Identify opportunities to embed and align Economic Development in Council’s suite of strategies and plans
  • Develop and manage the economic development budget to identify highest value priorities.
What you’ll bring to the team

To be successful in this role, you will be a highly motivated, collaborative, results driven leader who has proven experience leading and managing diverse teams within a corporate, government or commercial setting. You will be a forward  thinker and be capable of proactively leading change processes and initiate and support continuous improvement, as well as develop and implement operational plans to ensure stakeholder relationships and business outcomes are optimised and risk is minimised.
The successful applicant will have outstanding personal attributes including personal drive and integrity, and possess Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as business, economic development,  marketing or equivalent experience in a similar role as well as:
  • Knowledge of economic development challenges and opportunities
  • Extensive experience in business planning, data analysis & market research
  • Significant experience leading and motivating a diverse, multidisciplinary team
  • Strong relationship building and stakeholder management skills including the ability to build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
  • High level written communication and verbal communication skills including experience creating and presenting strategic documents and plans.
  • Previous experience in local, state, or federal government is desirable
